The Cream Falls to the Bottom: Enzo’s
Preparation is one of the most important ingredients that goes into a successful race. It’s the days, weeks, and months leading up to the race that matter, leaving little for a rider to do on race day other than focus and execute. But not all of a rider’s preparation occurs prior to race day, some occurs in the hours and minutes leading up the the start. One such preparation, which the riders of Giant Northeast find just as important, is the use of chamois cream and embrocation. Our hands-down choice for these products for the past 2 seasons is Enzo’s (www.enzoscyclingproducts.com).
Having first been exposed to their ‘Buttonhole’ chamois cream, we quickly dropped the other brands we had been using in favor of the perfect blend of weight, feel, and scent. Your sensitive seating area will thank you after using a good chamois cream, and butt-butter doesn’t get much better than this! Just don’t mistake it for cream cheese.
Next up are Enzo’s Embro and Oil Sticks. Packaged in a convenient ‘push bottom’ bottle, similar to some deodorants out there, you have three flavors to choose from: The Oil Stick is designed for wet and cool conditions between 56 and 70 degrees F. The Medium Embro Stick is for colder temps between 45 and 55 degrees F, and the Hot Embro Stick is for temps between 30 and 44 degrees F. So far, we have found those temps to be pretty accurate, and the oil stick works wonders on those cool damp mornings, keeping our legs/muscles moving and comfortable.
Stay tuned in the future for some brief ‘how-to’ posts on applying both Enzo’s chamois cream and embro sticks.
