I’m getting to the age where I’m pretty well-balanced, but longer steady climbs are good for me, and I’m a good technical rider.
Favorite Race Course
I really like the Morris Mtn Course in Wisconsin, but close to home it is probably Greenbrier State Park in Boonsboro, MD.
Favorite Place to Ride
Gambrills State Park and Frederick Watershed, Frederick, MD
What is your “Ride Life”?
My Ride Life is the balance I strike between work, racing, and maintaining a sense of a normal life with my girlfriend and dog. I used to fight back at life when I couldn’t get my way, but now I go with the flow a bit more and it has helped keep things in perspective.
What do you want to be if you grow up?
An artisan and musician, so basically I don’t plan on growing up.
Any advice for young riders?
Take your time and strike a balance between life on and off the bike.
Best part about racing mountain bikes?
Even on days when I’m not feeling great physically, I can manage to have fun on my bike. I could never say that when racing road bikes or with cyclocross.
Favorite Food: Fish Tacos
Boxers or briefs: Boxer Briefs, I love a good compromise.
Big spoon or little spoon: Big spoon, you get more for your effort.
What’s your perfect date? Not sure of my ideal, but earlier today I found out there was an Apple Blossom Festival down the street from the house, so my girl and I took the dog down and we enjoyed some cider, food and bluegrass while sitting in a grass field in the sun. That was pretty awesome!
What was your first car? Ford Explorer. I miss beating that car up.
